About Me

  • I am retired from medical management. I was a widow before I married the most wonderful man in the entire world. He spoils me to the utter end. I am a mother of three beautiful & wonderful adult children. I have seven grandchilren with more planned in the near future. I have five step children (one being deceased) and five step grandchildren. I love drawing, motorcycling, singing, shopping on line , collecting antiques that tells us of our ancestors past history. Watching sunsets & sunrises with my Perk, going on new adventures, mountain climbing, traveling, decorating our home differently (quite often), flower gardening, walking in the warmth of the weather hand in hand with my Perk. I am a very giving, loving and caring person. I would help most anybody. My heart is bigger than what I can afford, but I would do what I could for who ever it was. I only get stung once by family or friends. I won't tolerate being used by any one and I don't do the poor little me family arguments.

  • Back in elementary school, what kinds of games do you remember playing?

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

I remember as a child in elementary school, one of my best childhood memories, was at recess period. We played tetherball, volleyball, hopscotch, chinese jumprope, double jumprope, kickball, crab kickball, softball, baseball and jacks. We had monkey bars and swings. We actually had a real coach that made us do a fitness test and actual exercises as a grade to pass grade levels. There wasn't many over weight kids in those days, but that's been about fifty years ago. I enjoyed all of the above games, but I really loved chinese jumprope. I wish that I was young again so that I was able to have fun like that again. Those were the good old days.

  • Humbled by God

Here I sit at my sons home in Lubbock, TX. A week and three days ago I felt like I could do the unjustified, ride my sons little trail motor bike. Two years prior I wrecked it into some of his shrubs and house. Ah! yes indeed only my pride was hurt with some bruises. On October 26th, a beautiful sunny afternoon, I mounted this small bike with determination. I was shown once again where the brakes, gears, and gas were. So here I go into the field by his house riding in a few circles. Hey this isn't too bad. Yes! I did it. I rode it. Then suddenly I looked up at everyone watching me and taking pictures. Then in a panic I saw the gravel. Instead of going back into the field to ride around I decide to go for the house again. Ouch!!!! Am I OK? Am I bleeding? I don't know. My sons Kelly and Alex along with my husband come over to get me off the still running bike. I think, oh my God I broke my leg. My family takes me over, lays me on the ground and begin to check out this grandma's injuries. I hear some one say call 911. Mom, do you want to go to the hospital in the ambulance? Words began to jumble, my pain was so sever that I could hardly bear it. The ambulance arrived. Whew!! Praise God. The pain continues as the EMT is trying to start an IV. Finally he hits the vein and starts to check vitals. Please I need something for this pain. I beg of you for this is unbearable. Yes, I know, but we have to get your vitals first. I look out the back window of the ambulance only to see my family following behind with tears running down my face I think, my God help me. What have I done to my family? I remember arriving at the hospital, receiving an x-ray and some where in the back of my mind I hear, we need to cut here cloths off. I reply in a whisper. Cut them off. God intervened. He took my pain from me and don't remember anything after that. You're wondering what happened? Well this was Saturday afternoon and the physician did surgery on Sunday morning. God took my pain from me when I could not bear the pain any longer. If you're wondering... I shattered my left femur bone away from the knee cap and other long bones. I have an eight inch incision with two more incisions about three inches long. I have one large bolt and thirteen screws in that one surrounding area. Is is still painful? Yes, I am a week and three days past the surgery. I am doing good with the help of my family, husband, and God. I have put them through so much. I will never be able to repay them for what they have done. The stitches come out the tenth of November. Then I will be able to go back to my home which is out of state and continue with PT. I have been told by the physician that performed my surgery that I may never be the same again and it is going to take a long time for healing. Yea, healing. Not only my leg but my pride. I do believe that God is here to humble me. I will listen and obey.

  • If you could set a future post for after your death, what would it say?

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

I would say...... My "Dear" family, if I could tell you one thing from the experiences of my life, it would be for you not to neglect any of your relatives, immediate family members or close friends. That your treasures are not your possessions but it is your family and close friends. Especially your family. Life is so short from the time that you are born until death. You will not know the hour that you will be called home to your Heavenly Father. Life is not running around having so called fun by ones self, but it is having fun and spending time with those of your family that will be left behind for our mourning. You must believe me for I have been there many times by losing loved ones. We need to grasp and hold on to all of our memories. We do not all grieve the same length of time. Some have grieved a life time. I also would ask that you attend church and become a christian and make certain that others become christians too It will ease your grieving some to know that they will be in a better place but you will still miss them even knowing this. Please heed what I am telling you, if you do nothing else I have asked of you in my life time, please do this one thing for me. You will truly live a much better life if you are not selfish with your self by keeping to your self. Enjoy life with your family. You'll be amazed at how much happier your life will be. God Bless, Mother

  • Given the current financial crisis in the world, what are some of your best money saving tips?

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

You should try and double up or car pool if possible when traveling to work. Try not eat out as much if you are a person who eats out often. Look for sales in the news papers. Try not to use your credit cards if at all possible. Buy only what you might need rather than what you want. If you own stocks, etc. leave them be. Don't sell. That is really what hurts the financial world. Don't take out a loan unless it is a have to case. Watch your news to find out what is going on in the world. This will let you know so much. Be patient, things will turn around, they always do. Just hang loose and please vote. If you don't vote then you don't have any right to be upset with what happens or who is elected as President.
